We strive to always use durable qualities, so we can produce high-quality garments that can be used over and over again for years. But also to ensure that the clothes can withstand washing, steaming and ironing, which will maintain their shape and keep them wrinkle-free. We carefully select fabrics with as low environmental impact as possible throughout production. We are devoted to keep exploring new and sustainable materials and production methods, so we can keep, and increase, offering conscious fashion.
The fabric
Cotton is a natural cellulose fiber that is harvested from the cotton plant. They produce soft staple fibers around a boll of seeds. The fibers are spun into soft yarns or threads from which the fabric can either be weaved or knitted into different kinds of woven and jersey fabrics. It is the most common textile fiber in the world.
Care
Cotton fabrics are soft, strong and breathable but tends to wrinkle and is most often dull or matte. It has no pilling issues and can be washed and ironed on high temperatures. It can either be kept folded or hanging thanks to its good stability.
The fabric
Denim is a woven fabric, most often made from cotton or a cotton blend to achieve a desired level of stretch. It is known for its sturdy and heavy twill appearance. It is very durable and often ages well with a used or washed look. Please note that the stretchability may vary between different styles depending on the fit.
BCI Cotton means that the cotton supplier has followed the guidelines of Better Cotton Initiative; an initiative that continuously work with establishing the most sustainable ways of producing cotton, how to save water and improve working conditions.
Care
As denim can age or slightly change in its appearance, the garment should not be washed too often. Let it ventilate between washes or wash it gently. Denim can be washed either by hand or cold in a gentle machine program. Always turn the denim garment inside out during washing and let hang dry. Store denim folded or on a hanger, preferably with clippers.
The fabric
Linen is a natural fiber that comes from the flax plant, which can be weaved or knitted into fabrics. It is often associated with rough and strong fabrics with a “natural” look but can also be used or blended in finer fabrics for great luster. It is a very strong fiber but it wrinkles easily.
Care
Linen garments might change slightly after washing, as it might become smoother and softer. Wash cold and flat dry for the garment to be able to keep its shape.
The knitting
Merino Wool is a natural fiber from the merino sheep. It is not as rough and itchy as regular sheep wool, and it has a beautiful shine and smoothness. It breathes well, keeps you warm when cold and cools you down when it’s hot.
Our merino wool is always mulesing free, which means that no animals have been harmed in the wool shearing process.
Care
Merino wool also tends to pill but can be maintained with a comb or sweater stone that is developed for this specific purpose. Merino wool is quite sensitive to washing as it might shrink or felt. As wool is a “self-cleaning” material, it is usually sufficient to let the garments ventilate outdoors for a while. If it needs washing it should be hand washed or washed in a specific machine wool program with wool detergent, always flat dry after washing. All knitted garments should be kept folded rather than hanging to keep their shape.
The knitting
Alpaca wool is a natural fiber from an alpaca. Its characteristics are similar to sheep’s wool, but it is warmer, less itchy towards the skin and since it lacks lanolin (wool wax), it is hypoallergenic.
Our alpaca blend is mixed with nylon and spandex to make it suitable for our soft and stretchy garments. Our alpaca garments should always dry flat to keep their original shape and can be hand washed or machine washed in hand wash program.
Care
Alpaca, as any wool fiber, tends to pill after a while of wearing. It is because shorter, loose fibers find their way to the surface and tangles together into small balls. This can be maintained with a comb or sweater stone that is developed for this specific purpose. The pilling balls will also disappear a bit when the garment is washed in a wool program. All knitted garments should be kept folded rather than hanging to keep their shape.
The fabric
Polyester is a synthetic material that is durable and easy to maintain over a long time. It can be washed in high temperatures many times without losing its shape or shine. It rarely wrinkles and can be ironed on quite high temperatures.
Crepe is a woven quality we use season after season and is easily maintained. Crepe has a “rough/uneven” surface, created by twisted yarns in the fabric. This gives the fabric a beautiful drape and a bit of mechanical elasticity. Please note that its beautiful finish and feel to it can differ from season to season due to variations in stretchability.
Care
We recommend dry cleaning for all our tailored jackets, to keep shoulder pads and interlining in place, and gentle machine washing on all other polyester crepe garments if nothing else is specified. To help maintain the garment’s shape even longer, jackets should be kept hanging on a shaped or padded hanger.
The fabric
Viscose is a regenerated fiber, also known as rayon. It is derived from cellulose fibers from trees which is dissolved in a chemical solution and spun into yarns and threads. This makes it a mix between natural and synthetic fibers.
Thanks to its cellulose base, viscose has similar characteristics as cotton, breathes well, soft and comfortable hand feel, versatile and light. Unlike cotton, it has a good shine and drapes well.
Care
Our viscose jersey contains elastane to give it an extra comfortable stretch as well as prevent from too much wrinkling. It can be machine washed cold and ironed warm. It should be kept folded rather than hanging to maintain its shape.
The fabric
Satin or sateen is a woven quality that is weaved with very fine, tight yarns to create a silk-like soft and smooth fabric with a beautiful shine and drape. Our silky satin is made from polyester and elastane to maintain a good shape and condition even after several seasons of wearing and washing. Please note that its beautiful finish may vary from glossy to slightly more matte, season to season.
Care
Satin will not wrinkle as much as silk, and it is washable in machine as well as ok to iron on a low temperature. The garments also keep their shape even longer if they are kept on hangers rather than folded.
